Department of Survey Techniques
Vision:
The department is established to be as a scientific, cultural, and intellectual radiation center influentially feeds community with technical outputs provided with pre-requisites of higher education in the specialty areas of certified quality system and the overall development of performance to meet the needs of the community, “the government sector and the private sector.”
Message:
The department mission and\ or message is to qualify technical cadres conducting to do cadastral survey pertaining to topographical terrain survey, ownership, projecting works are required by the engineering schemes, designing and drawing topographic and planar maps.
Thus, graduated cadres are provided with technological knowledge and scientific skills mainly to keep pace with the evolution of scientific curriculum associated with acquired skills and experience due to the high quality of teaching plan that has been adopted and targeted by the Technical Education.

Objective:
The department aims to graduate specialized technical cadres scientifically and practically are qualified in consistent with the pre-requisites of the technological development on programs and instruments so that to carry out the cadastral survey on terrain and property, triangulation and Trilateration, leveling, preparing maps of public survey and mapping according to Iraqi and international networking patterns.
Characterization of graduate work
1 – The graduate shall do triangulation, Trilateration, and leveling for installing ground control points horizontally and vertically by using the traditional and the modern devices.
2 – The graduate shall do the terrain cadastral survey (topography) and properties (cadastral); projecting outstands for designs, charts and maps needed for engineering projects.
3 – Prepare the planar and terrain maps (topographic) depending on datum given by spatial -aerial images by using the available instruments or by using the modern devices.
4 – Design and Mapping according to both Iraqi and international networking based on stages of production by using the needed instruments.
5 – Thematic mapping using Geographic Information System GIS
